Word, Bacall.

Today's New York Times features an "At Home With" Lauren Bacall, in which this is written:

"I never thought I'd have that kind of recognition in movies," she said. Ms. Bacall recounted sitting at the Academy Awards in 1997. As Kevin Spacey approached the stage to present the award for best supporting actress, Ms. Bacall's heart pounded so furiously she didn't think she would be able to walk toward him if called. "Unfortunately," she said, her voice beguilingly, imperiously cool, "it was the year of 'The English Patient.' "

Truer words were never spoken. Lauren, we promise not to make any more jokes about you showing up at a benefit as long as there's food.
