The Economist Intelligence Unit (you know, the EIU?) has released a survey it conducted on the best and worst places in the world to live.
And the winner is...
VANCOUVER!
Congratulations, eh? The other nine cities are Melbourne, Vienna, Geneva, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Zurich, Toronto and Calgary. So basically if you live in Canada or Australia, you're good. You may be wondering why these two places make for such wonderful living. We didn't read the article, obviously, but we'll venture a guess: they're huge landmasses with small amounts of people, and because people are assholes, living in these places is fan-tastic!
OK, you may say, that's all well and good, even, but did they name the 10 worst places to live? To which we would impolitely but necessarily answer your question with another question: would we ever report on a survey that didn't include a "worst of " list? No, we would not.
The 10 worst places in the world to live, then: Boca Raton, Miami, Orlando, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Ft. Lauderdale, Tallahassee, Naples and West Palm Beach.
Oh, wait. That's our list. Sorry. The actual list is Port Moresby, Algiers, Dhaka, Karachi, Lagos, Phnom Penh, Abidjan, Harare, Douala, Tehran. Again, because we didn't read the article, we don't know what the criteria were for determining these cities, but we're a little surprised not to see Baghdad, Kabul, Islamabad, Riyadh, Denpasar or Boca Raton on the list. Maybe they're too obvious. The EIU has always liked to be cutting edge.
Ah well, it's aboot time we put another shrimp on the barbie, mate! Auf weidersehen!
