Mixed all up.

Who doesn't love a mix tape? And by mix tape, we mean iTunes playlist. Here are some sites worth checking oot:

Art of the Mix is a lovely site at which to see mixes that others have compiled, as well as to upload your own. You can search by category, as well, which is great if you're looking for music for, say, a quiet night or an impromptu suicide. Art of the Mix is also a good place to find some new music when you're completely sick of the thousands of cds/mp3 you already have.

Tiny Mix Tapes actually allows you to submit a genre, word, emotion or something else to the site, and, in return, they may compile a mix for you based on your suggestion. For example, a recent (and totally understandable) submission was "I hate living in Florida." The mix that resulted from that was...
  1. Butthole Surfers - "Moving to Florida" (Cream Corn From The Socket Of Davis)
  2. Southern Culture On The Skids - "My House Has Wheels" (Ditch Diggin')
  3. The Fall - "Hit the North" (The Frenz Experiment)
  4. Big Black - "Kerosene" (Atomizer)
  5. The Pixies - "Vamos" (Surfer Rosa)
  6. The Animals - "We Got Get Out Of This Place" (Animal Tracks)
  7. Kool and The Gang - "Too Hot" (Everything's Kool & The Gang)
  8. Dream Academy - "Life In A Northern Town" (The Dream Academy)
  9. The Bealtes - "Only A Northern Song" (Yellow Submarine)
  10. The Velvet Underground - "Run, Run, Run" (The Velvet Underground & Nico)
  11. The Talking Heads - "The Big Country" (More Songs About Buildings & Food)
Not too bad, right, ladies? Anything that follows Kool and the Gang with "Life in a Northern Town" feels it.
