We get it. It's not funny.

The New York Times, that bastion of quality, tells us reason number six gazillion (NYT subscription required—go to bugmenot.com for a generic log-in name and password) SNL hasn't been good since around 1978. Yeah, OK, there is way too much celebrity parody going on, but perhaps the problem isn't the material but the people responsible for realizing the material. When you have someone as talent-free as Maya Rudolph and someone as insanely comedically talented as Amy Poehler just doing impersonations, it's not going to be amusing or interesting. It's going to be embarrassing. Like that feeling you get when you're the one writing the New York Times article about why SNL sucks. Oh, and Cheri Oteri played the female cheerleader in the cheerleader duo with Will Ferrell, not Molly Shannon, but we've learned not to believe a word of anything in that newspaper, so no worries.
